General Interest

General
Israel secured their place at the 2020 Paralympic Games through at the 2019 European Championships in Rostock, Germany. The Israelis finished second behind Turkey, who had already qualified, so they were awarded the European championship qualifying berth.

The Israeli team made their Paralympic debut at the 2016 Games in Rio, where they progressed to the knockout stage with a record of one win [a walkover against Algeria], one draw, and two defeats in the group phase. They were defeated 15-5 in the quarterfinals by a Turkish team that would go on to win the gold medal.

The Israeli women appeared at the last two editions of the world championships. In 2018 the team won one pool phase match, against hosts Sweden, and finished 11th. Israel reached the quarterfinals at the 2014 World Championships in Espoo, where they lost to Turkey.
