In 2018 she was reclassified from F55 to F52 by the International Paralympic Committee [IPC]. "This situation now is very different for me because my multiple sclerosis is getting worse. My power is decreasing and the movement in my hand is getting worse, so I have to throw in a different way. I fight every day against this disease; I live every day like the last one. I am very happy to show people that we have the capacity to do whatever we want to do." (paralympic.org, 15 Jun 2018)

SPORTSWOMAN
She worked as a municipal guard in Santos, Brazil, and played volleyball at the city's Civil Servant Games prior to being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1993. She began playing wheelchair basketball in 1996 at Reboucas Sports and Recreation Complex in Santos. "They told me I couldn't do anything else. I did not accept that, I had a very active life and loved sports. In 1996 I got to know wheelchair basketball and finally found a reason to go on with my life."
