General
SIBLING RIVALRY
His twin brother Luke has represented Great Britain in boxing, and was selected to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "We're not allowed to spar any more because it gets out of hand too easily. As soon as he hits me with a good shot I want to hit him with a better shot and it just turns into a war. The coach has had to get in the ring at times to pull us apart. I always want to do better than him but I still want him to do well. It's definitely a friendly rivalry. It's a lonely sport if you are by yourself, but I've got a twin brother coming along with me on the runs and the training, so it's not as lonely. You've always got someone there pushing you on." (bbc.co.uk, 08 Jun 2021; SecondsOut YouTube channel, 20 Aug 2019; heraldscotland.com, 22 Jul 2014)

TURNING PROFESSIONAL
He decided against turning professional after the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but he plans to do so following the 2020Games in Tokyo. "This [training for the Games] is like an apprenticeship. I've taken all my losses and made all my mistakes as an amateur. I think if I went pro after the last Olympics [in Rio de Janeiro] it would have just been no good. My head was a bit in the clouds. I'd have been no good getting loads of money and that. I've learnt now and I'm a bit more mature so I've made all my mistakes, all my losses, so I'm ready to go [after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo] straight into the pros and start winning some belts. It would be unbelievable to win an Olympic medal but you wouldn't want to win it if there was no money in it. You wouldn't want to just win it and put it in the trophy case to get dust on. I couldn't go [professional] without him [his brother Luke]." (SecondsOut YouTube channel, 20 Aug 2019)
