General Interest

General
NOT YET A PRO
He won silver in the lightweight category at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Following the Games he made the decision to remain an amateur with the intention of claiming gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "It was my decision, I haven't regretted it for a single second. Of course I could have turned professional. There were several propositions and I hesitated. But I was only 22 at the time, so I was still young. I know that if I don't win gold or a medal, people might say, 'You have wasted four years of your life!' I am aware of that but I accept the challenge." (leparisien.fr, 16 Mar 2020)

GYM OWNER
In September 2018 he opened Boxoum in Toulouse, France. (france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr, 24 Sep 2018; 20minutes.fr, 24 Sep 2018)

HERITAGE
He was born in France to Moroccan parents. "I am very attached to my origins as I went [to Morocco] every summer. I was born in France, I represent France, but I can't forget my parents' history so I also represent this culture that is close to my heart." (Canal Atlas Fight TV YouTube channel, 17 Mar 2020)
