"Track and field is 90% mental. So if you're negative and hard on yourself it's harder to move on and harder to succeed in the sport." (athleticsweekly.com, 30 Aug 2018)

General Interest

General
DISAPPOINTMENT BEFORE WORLD RECORD
In July 2016 she placed sixth at the US Olympic Trials and missed out on selection for the national team ahead of the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. However, later the same month she broke the world record at the 2016 Diamond League event in London, England. "I didn't give it all I had [at the US Olympic Trials]. So it's only my fault. That's a lesson I've learned. What you got to do is to compete under pressure. The girls who got the Olympic slots went out and ran 100%. I did not rise to the occasion and that is my fault. I don't think I would want to change the past because not making that Olympic team made me hungrier for the next race and perhaps that was why I was able to go out and break the world record. I just had so much inside me and so much that I knew I could do. At the time it was tough not making the Olympic team but overall it was part of my plan. Each time I mess up I try to go back to practice and fix it." (athleticsweekly.com, 30 Aug 2018)

MOVE TO TEXAS
In 2018 she relocated from Kentucky to Austin, TX, United States of America. "The weather is wonderful. That's the biggest change. Living here, I'm a lot happier because of the atmosphere. Since 2016 I have been seeing a sports psychologist and I'm continuing to mature and I'm taking the good with the bad." (theatlantavoice.com, 06 Oct 2019; hurdlesfirstbeta.com, 10 Aug 2019)

EARLY DAYS
She was adopted at the age of three months and grew up with 10 other children where eight of them were also adopted. "It's all I knew and it's such a great family. We are all pretty close and I love it." (teamusa.org, 23 May 2021; athleticsweekly.com, 30 Aug 2018)
