BASKETBALL VS HIGH JUMP
She played basketball in high school in addition to high jumping, and was offered a scholarship to play basketball in the National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA] Division I at Long Island University in the United States of America. Having focused on basketball over athletics for a period, she returned to high jump in her final year of high school. "When I first came back, I knew I wasn't going to jump 6-2 [1.89m]. But I was struggling at 5-6 [1.71m]. I said, 'I can't do this. I don't want to lose'." She considered quitting high jump but was convinced to keep going by a coach at her school. "She said, 'You did it your sophomore year. If you don't do it this year, you'll wonder if you could've done it'." (dailybulletin.com, 24 Jan 2013; dailybreeze.com, 18 Jun 2013)
