She was originally an athletics all-rounder before focusing on the discus. "Coach [Dieter] Kollark knew my coach Joachim Weihrich from my first club, Furstenwalde, and became aware of me. I then came to a trial training session where he [Kollark] saw my potential, and it was fun right away. Since I am prone to injuries, I was better sticking to throwing disciplines."
