Ehime Prefecture Paralympic Flame Festival will feature flame lighting in three cities (Matsuyama, Imabari and Seiyo) representing the eastern central and southern areas of the prefecture, respectively. Flame lighting is also scheduled to take place at Otoi Hall, which is completed in March 2020, after the torrential rains of July 2018.

The flames that are lit in the three cities mentioned above will visit 17 cities and towns throughout the prefecture. Many people will be given the opportunity to be involved in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which will build enthusiasm regarding the Games even after the Flame Festivals. After that, a flame gathering ceremony and departure ceremony are scheduled to be held in the grounds of the Ehime Prefectural Government Building, before the flame heads to Tokyo.

Flame visits

The Paralympic flame lit in three cities will subsequently visit public facilities, welfare facilities for people with impairments, welfare facilities for the elderly, and commercial facilities in 17 cities and towns throughout Ehime Prefecture, where flame lighting was not carried out. At some venues people will be able to experience parasports at the same time (as seeing the flame), which will build a sense of expectancy with regard to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
