About The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games
The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games is the organisation responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020. The city of Tokyo, Japan's vibrant capital, was elected as Host City of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad at the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 7 Sept. 2013.
The organising committee was launched on 24 Jan. 2014. Spearheaded by former Prime Minister of Japan Yoshiro Mori as organising committee President, the Organising Committee is composed of members from various organisations including the Japanese Olympic Committee, the Japanese Paralympic Committee, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the national government.
The Games of the XXXII Olympiad (Tokyo 2020) will be held from 23 July until 8 August 2021, followed by the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 from 24 August until 5 September.
In order to guarantee the success of Tokyo 2020, the Organising Committee is preparing the Games together with the people of Japan and organisations such as the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), the Japanese Para-Sports Association, the Japan Paralympic Committee, the City of Tokyo, the government of Japan and organisations from the business world.
