From LeBron James to Andre Iguodala, the Twittersphere was quick to show its love for Team USA after their victory over France in the Olympic final.

Team USA won their fourth-consecutive men’s basketball Olympic gold medal at Tokyo 2020, but they didn’t have it all their own way.

Despite enjoying a roster packed full of NBA talent like Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum and Damian Lillard, the reigning champions lost their opening match to France.

But thanks to the assured leadership of veterans like Durant the team eventually found its groove, beating highly-rated Spain and Australia before avenging their prelim loss to France in the final.

France’s late charge threatened to derail the dream, but the US held tight to land their fourth-consecutive Olympic gold, with three-time Olympic champion Kevin Durant’s 29 points leading the way.

The victory kicked off an outpouring of love online, with USA fans staying up late to catch the action.
