As water polo comes to a close with the men's gold (Greece v. Serbia) and bronze-medal (Hungary v. Spain) matches, here's what you need to know ahead of the 16th day of Olympic water polo action at Tokyo 2020 on 8 August 2021.

What is happening?

Day sixteenth of Tokyo 2020 water polo will feature the last matches of the event, with the bronze medal match between Spain and Hungary unfolding before the top two teams, Greece and Serbia, come together to compete for the gold.

The first of the ties will be the classification matches - for places 5 to 8 - that begin from 09:30 JST.

Who can I expect to see?

Greece will rely on Stylianos Agryropoulos Kanakakis in attack and goalkeeper Emmanouil Zerdevas to keep things tight as they try to make their first men's Olympic water polo medal in history a gold one. As for Serbia, the players to watch will be Dusan Mandic and Stefan Mitrovic.

In the men's bronze-medal game, Spain will hope to add to the silver they won as hosts in 1992 in Barcelona and the gold four years later in Atlanta. Hungary, for their part, will want to add a fourth bronze to their astonishing three silvers and nine golds.
