Tokyo 2020 Shooting day 4: First golds in mixed team 10m Air Pistol and Air Rifle medals on the line today

With the introduction of the mixed team events at Tokyo 2020, here’s everything you need to know about the fourth day of the Olympic shooting competition at Tokyo 2020 on 27 July 2021.

What’s happening today?

The action gets underway at 9:00 (local) at the Asaka Shooting range for the mixed team qualification round in the 10m Air Pistol event and will be followed by the finals. The 10m Air rifle mixed event also follows the same format.

Who should I expect to see?

Among the top competitors in the 10m pistol event will be the Korea Republic team of CHOO Gaeun and the legendary JIN Jongoh and the ROC team of Artem Chernousov and Vitalina Batsarashkina.

India will field two teams in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Manu Bhaker pairs up with Saurabh Chaudhary while Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Abhishek Verma form the second team. All four shooters will look to put aside their disappointing individual campaigns at Tokyo's Asaka Shooting Range and target the gold in the first time the mixed event features on the shooting programme of an Olympic Games.

In the rifle event (10m), the Indian pairs of Elavenil Valarivan and Divyansh Singh Panwar and Anjum Moudgil and Deepak Kumar will be in action as well as the Korea Republic duo of PARK Heemoon and KIM Sangdo.

What happened in the Rio 2016 finals?

This will be the Olympic debut of the mixed team event in 10m air pistol and rifle.
