Биография

Phil Lundgren was chosen to be a member of the British team for the 1960 Olympic Games after becoming a surprise winner of the ABA Championships earlier in the year. He defeated a Sudanese opponent before losing to eventual bronze medallist Jorma Limmonen via a split decision in the round of sixteen. Lundgren switched to the professional ranks in 1961 and was to campaign as a pro until 1967. He had no more than moderate success as a professional and, although he won South of England titles at featherweight and lightweight, his career ended with 13 losses in a 34 fight career.

Lundgren maintained his connection with the sport by serving as a long-time Chairman of the South of England area council and was a Steward of the British Boxing Board of Control.
