Биография

Nils Eklöf started in sports as a boxer but switched to distance running in 1923 and quickly approached world class. In 1927 he recorded 8:24.6 for 3,000 metres and 14:45.3 for the 5K, leading the world list in both events that year. He won the 1927 Swedish title at 5,000 metres, and won that event in a dual match against Finland, and for the third straight year, won it at the Prix Jean Bouin in Paris. At Amsterdam in 1928 he failed to finish the 5K but placed fourth in the steeplechase, and event he rarely contested. He continued to compete for a few years after the 1928 Olympics, but with less intensity. Eklöf worked as a planning supervisor and a sports advisor.

Personal Bests: 5000 – 14:45.3 (1927); 3000S – 9:38.0 (1928).
