Marek Seweryn had the following podium finishes at major championships: 3rd in the 1980 Olympics Featherweight class (282.5 kg); 2nd in the 1978 World Championships Bantamweight class (252.5 kg); 1st in the 1979 World Championships Featherweight class (282.5 kg); 3rd in the 1980 World Championships Featherweight class (282.5 kg); 3rd in the 1986 World Championships Lightweight class (322.5 kg); 1st in the 1978 European Championships Bantamweight class (260.0 kg); 3rd in the 1985 European Championships Lightweight class (330.0 kg). He set one featherweight snatch world record in 1983.
