Биография

Giulio Gaudini made his Olympic debut as a foil fencer in 1924. During the final pool, the Italian team withdrew in protest of a judging decision, so Gaudini left Paris without a medal.

30 wins against 2 losses

At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam, Gaudini led the Italian foil team to victory by compiling a remarkable record of 30 wins against only 2 losses. Two days later, he finished third in the individual competition.

Foil and sabre

In 1932, Gaudini competed in both the foil and sabre events. The Italians lost a close contest to the French in the team foil final. Then Gaudini won another bronze medal in the individual foil. The following week, he picked up silver medals in both the team and individual sabre.

An individual gold medal crowning his career

Gaudini took part in both disciplines again in the 1936 Games in Berlin. In the team foil, the Italians breezed through the tournament with a record of 104 wins and 19 losses and defeated the French in the deciding match. Two days later, Gaudini triumphed over all comers in the individual foil to gain his only individual gold medal. Later in the Games, he and his Italian teammates finished second to the Hungarians in the team sabre and then Gaudini closed out his Olympic career by placing sixth in the individual sabre event.
