Étienne Bally was a sprinter whose greatest accomplishment was winning the 1950 European Championships over 100 metres. He also added silver medals at that meet in the 200 and 4x100 relay. Bailly earned 28 caps and won six French titles, twice in the 100 (1947, 1950) and four times in the 200 (1946-47, 1950, 1952). Eight times he equaled the French record of 10.5 for 100 metres, and twice he set French records in the 200.
