Биография

Arthur Hoffmann started at the 1908 London Olympic Games in both the 100 and 200 m, but was eliminated in the heats of both. He also finished 15th in the long jump and won a silver medal with the medley relay (200/200/400/800 m) together with Hans Eicke, Otto Trieloff and Hanns Braun.

Hoffmann was an avid sports teacher, journalist and employee of numerous German daily and specialized newspapers. He was active since 1900 in football, athletics, gymnastics and hockey, and was in school in Gdańsk as a track and field athlete and cricketer, then as a gymnast and football player. He trained seriously in 1907 and 1908 for the Olympic Games, and in 1908 was German Champion in the 100 and in the long jump. In 1914 he became one of the first sports teachers in the North German Football Association. Later he owned a sporting goods shop in Hamburg. Hoffmann died in 1932 after an appendix operation.
