As a child, Abdallah Lamrani was accepted into a charitable school that provided French education to indigenous Moroccans. It was there that he learned how to play football, and he continued in this pursuit after he was recruited into FAR Rabat. From 1970 through 1974 he was a member of the Moroccan national team, and he made his international début at the 1970 FIFA World Cup, where his country did not survive the group stage. He also took part in the 1972 Munich Olympics, where Morocco was eliminated in the semifinals after losing all three of its matches. Over the course of the tournament, Lamrani took part in all but one of the team’s six games. As a student, he studied physical education, and later worked as a coach after his playing days ended.
