Биография

Aaron Ramirez was a distance runner who ran the 10,000 metres at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, while representing the Mizuno Track Club. Ramirez started school at Texas A&M University, but transferred after one year and graduated from the University of Arizona, where in 1986 he won the Pac-10, District 9, and NCAA cross-country championships. He ran for the USA at the World Cross-Country Championships in 1989, 1990, and 1991. He also competed at the 1991 World Championships in the 10K, and the 1990 Goodwill Games, finishing eighth. Ramirez ran in the 1988 US Olympic Trials in the 3,000 steeplechase but failed to make the team. In the 10K he was runner-up at the USA Championship in 1990, and third in 1991-92. Ramirez was inducted into the University of Arizona Hall of Fame. He married Shelly Steely, a distance runner who also competed at the 1992 Olympics.
