Zoltán Eötvös was a versatile sportsman. In addition to speed skating, he practiced athletics and rowing. As a skater he won the national championships four consecutive times 1925-1928, finished second in 1924 and third in 1930. At his only World Championships, shortly before the Winter Olympics, he finished 18th in the all-round. His top finish at the 1928 Winter Games in St. Moritz, was 10th over 1500m. Eötvös also competed at the European Championships, finishing 15th in 1929 (did not finish in 1932). He worked as a public officer in the Financial Institutions Centre.
