Biografia

Tony Jeffries was taught to box at the age of 10 by his uncle who had a brief career as a professional boxer in the 1980s. He represented England at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and at the 2007 World Championships where he was a quarter finalist thereby earning a place at the Beijing Olympics. At the 2008 Games he narrowly defeated his first opponent on countback after the bout ended five points apiece then beat a Hungarian on his way to the last four and a guaranteed Olympic medal. Jeffries could not match the accuracy of Ireland’s Kenny Egan in the semi-finals and had to settle for a bronze medal. This was his last fight as an amateur and he had his first professional fight in February 2009. Despite being hampered by a tendency to cut easily and having problems with his hands that eventually required surgery he is, as of early 2012, unbeaten in his professional career. He is also a qualified fitness instructor who has worked extensively in Britain and the United States.
