Biografia

Until a recent discovery by Olympic historians, it was not known that Thomas Jackson competed in the pole vault at the 1908 Olympics. But details of his participation are quite clear in the British sporting journal Sporting Life. Jackson tied for first in the 1906 IC4A pole vault, and placed second in 1905. At the Metropolitan AAU Championships he was runner-up in both 1905 and 1906, and in 1906, placed equal third at the Penn Relays. Jackson was a graduate of Cornell, graduating as an engineer in 1908. He was later an electrical and welding engineer with Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock of Chester, Pennsylvania, and was a President of the American Welding Society and Cornell Club of Philadelphia.
