Saurabh Chaudhary is a young Indian shooter and holds the promise to become the next big superstar of the sport.
Born on 12 May 2002 in the Kalina village in Uttar Pradesh, Saurabh Chaudhary was introduced to sport shooting at the age of 13.
He accompanied a friend to a nearby shooting range and the patient and still nature of the sport to get a perfect score appealed to the teenager. Saurabh Chaudhary began training from the very next day.
The youngster travelled almost 15 kilometres a day to practice and he posted impressive scores within months of starting. Saurabh Chaudhary’s coach Amit Sheoran and other shooters at the range knew they were witnessing a world-class talent being born.
However, to fulfil that talent, Saurabh Chaudhary had to own a pistol of his own and for a family with limited means, affording a sport pistol was a luxury.
His family though were convinced of his prospects and collectively decided to take a loan to buy Saurabh the right equipment. They even set up a makeshift shooting range at home, between two rooms, so he could practice in peace, just as he had wanted.
