Biografia

Dink Templeton was a rugby, track and football star at Stanford, but his greatest influence at "The Farm" was as a coach. After graduating in 1921 he was immediately appointed track coach at the age of 24. He remained in the post until 1939 and developed many world record breakers and winning teams. Templeton also earned a law degree and, in addition to his duties at Stanford, was a broadcaster and journalist and coached at the Olympic Club. His overall influence on the development of California sports was immeasurable. At the 1920 Olympics, Dink placed fourth in the long jump in track and field in addition to his rugby exploits. In the match against France he clinched the rugby gold medal for the U.S. with a 55-yard drop goal.
