Petr Kment was on the Czechoslovakian national team from 1964-73 and was among the world’s top heavyweight and super-heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler for nearly a decade, being a medal contender at every tournament he entered. During his career, Kment competed at three consecutive Olympics, starting at 1964 and won bronze in 1968, placing fourth in 1964 and seventh in 1972. At the world championships, Kment won silver in 1973 and bronzes in 1965-67 and 1971. At the European Championships, Kment won the 1968 European title, winning bronzes in 1966-67. After finishing his sporting career, Kment worked as a wrestling coach, coaching the Czechoslovakian national junior team, and later was president of the Czech Wrestling Federation.
