Biografia

Kyle Chalmers is one of the world's best sprint swimmers, who boasts an unbelievable medal record for someone born in 1998.

The Australian caused shockwaves in the swimming world when, at 18-years-old, he won the blue-ribboned men's 100m freestyle Olympic title at Rio 2016 in a time of 47.58 to break the world junior record.

Chalmers struggled with serious shoulder injuries after that performance, but was able to find enough fitness and form to win silver in the 100m free at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, just 0.6s behind his great rival Caeleb Dressel.

Using that momentum, Chalmers went on to break the short course 100m freestyle world record at the 2021 Swimming World Cup in Kazan.

But Chalmers' most impressive ability is arguably in the relay events, where he can almost single-handedly put Australia on the podiums with his freestyle speed and ability to swim butterfly. This was on full display at the 2022 Short Course World Championships in Melbourne, where the South Australian helped his nation to six relay medals, as well as the individual 100m title.
