Biografia

Judy Geer rowed for Dartmouth, transferring there from Smith College in 1973 after Dartmouth opened up its college to women in 1972. She was a pioneer rower there, leading the first women’s crew team. Geer competed at both the 1976 and 1984 Olympics, also making the 1980 team which did not compete. She was a sculler who also competed at five World Championships (1977, 1979, 1981-83), but never quite made a podium.

After college Geer coached the Dartmouth women rowers from 1977-79, including her sister, Carlie Geer. After the abortive 1980 Olympic attempt, she returned to school at Dartmouth, earning a masters’ in engineering in 1983. In 1985 Judy Geer married 1972 Olympian Dick Dreissigacker, who she had met through rowing. They work together with a company he had started, Concept2, which manufactures and sells composite oars and other rowing supplies. Geer-Dreissigacker started in manufacturing and software development with the company, but switched over to marketing
