Biografia

Discus thrower Hartmut Losch, the brother of hammer thrower Manfred Losch, participated in three consecutive Olympic Games from 1964-72. He had his best result in 1968, placing an unfortunate fourth. At the 1966 Europeans Losch won a silver medal, winning gold in 1969, and placing fifth in 1971. In East Germany he was national champion in 1966, and was runner-up in 1964-65, 1967-68, 1972, and 1974.

Professionally Losch was an officer in the Nationale Volksarmee (National People’s Army). Within the Army he worked as a sports instructor at Army Club Potsdam. At the age of 53 years he died from a heart attack in 1997 during a jogging session in the forest.
