Biografia

After running at Huntington Park High School in Los Angeles, Foy Draper enrolled at Southern Cal and won the 1935 IC4A 220y. He never bettered his high school mark for 100y but he improved to a best of 20.8 for 220y, which he set in winning the Far Western AAU in 1934. He also clocked 10.3 for 100m when giving Jesse Owens a close run in the 1935 NCAA. Draper, who ran the third leg on the 1936 relay team, was killed in action during World War II. He was reported missing in action while flying over Tunisia in the Battle of Kassarine Pass on 4 Jan 1943. His date of death is usually given as 1 February 1943.
