Biografia

When Dorothy Poynton won the silver medal in the 1928 Olympic springboard, she had barely passed her 13th birthday and set the record of being the youngest U.S. Olympic medalist in history In 1932 she won the Olympic highboard and in 1936, as Mrs. Hill, she became the first woman to defend an Olympic highboard title and also won a bronze medal in the springboard. Among U.S. women divers only Georgia Coleman and Pat McCormick have equalled Dorothy Poynton-Hill’s record of winning four Olympic medals and only Paula Myers-Pope has matched her performance of winning medals at three different Olympics. Poynton-Hill made several television commercials, won seven AAU titles and, after her competitive retirement, operated her own aquatic club in Los Angeles.
