Devin Booker, born and raised in Grand Rapids, developed a passion for basketball early on. His father Melvin was a former NBA player who claimed the 1994 Big Eight Player of the Year award while at the University of Missouri before plying his trade in Italy and Russia.
After an impressive high school career, the young Booker enrolled at the University of Kentucky and showcased his skills at the Wildcats. In the 2014-15 season, he averaged 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game and claimed the SEC Sixth Man of the Year, SEC All-Freshman and All-SEC Second Team awards.
After one season in Kentucky, Booker declared for the 2015 NBA Draft and was selected 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns. The guard made his NBA debut while still 18 and was fourth in the 2016 Rookie of the Year award voting. He has become a key player for the Suns and made four NBA All-Star Game appearances.
