Deborah Lynn WAPLES

Debra Waples grew up in Oregon and attended Portland State University. Her parents later lived in England, and Waples spoke French, Danish, and some German. After college she did graduate studies in international relations in Genève, Switzerland. Waples was the 1983 US Champion in foil, and competed at five World Championships and the 1977 and 1981 Universiade. Waples won two team foil medals at the Pan American Games, a bronze in 1979 and a silver in 1983.
