For her efforts with the women's 4×400 relay team at the 1972 Olympics, which included world records in the first round and final, Dagmar Käsling and her teammates were named 1972 Team of the Year in East Germany. Käsling then married sprinter Gerhard Lühnenschloß and made her living as Prof. Dr. Lühnenschloß, a lecturer at the Institut für Sportwissenschaften of the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität in Magdeburg, teaching and researching in the areas of training science and track & field. In 2005 she published the book "Schnelligkeit".
