Biografia

While racing in the same team as Alfredo Binda and Costante Girardengo, Antonio Negrini was never destined to have a lot of wins to his credit, acting more as a support rider to the two Italian cycling greats.

After a short amateur career, which saw Negrini compete in the road race at the 1924 Olympics, he turned professional in 1926, and raced professionally up to the outbreak of World War II. His best win was the 1932 Giro di Lombardia but he also enjoyed other notable successes like the XX Settembre (1928) and Midi Libre (1935) stage races. In addition he won two Classics, the Giro della Romagna (1928) and the Giro del Piemonte and also the Torino Criterium(1929)

Negrini never rode in the Tour de France and his best finish in the Giro d'talia was third overall in 1927. On 18 May 1930 he had the honour of being the race leader for one day, after finishing second in the 280 km stage from Catania to Palermo. In 1929 and 1930 he was runner-up in the Italian Road Race Championship, behind Binda. In 1929, Negrini and Girardengo teamed up to win the prestigious Six Days of Leipzig.
