Bill Morris won his first big title in 1956 when he took the U.S. Junior Trapshooting All-Around Championship. He continued to win state titles, but never managed another national crown until 1963 when he won the U.S. international-style championship in skeet shooting. A year later he won his Olympic bronze medal in a shootoff for second place with Italy’s Galliano Rossini and Russia’s Pāvel Seničevs. Senichev shot a clean round for second place, but Morris' total of 24 x 25 was good for the bronze over the Italian’s 23 x 25. Morris, who graduated from Oklahoma as a finance major, later became an independent oil producer and farmer in Kansas.
