경력

Vladimír Černý started out in Czechoslovakia as a water polo player, playing in over 130 high-level matches for ŠK Bratislava and UDK Praha. In 1947/48 he also played for UTE Budapest in the top Hungarian league. Černý took up modern pentathlon in 1952 and eventually won 11 Czechoslovakian titles, including 6 individual championships. He competed three times at the World Championships, in addition to his 1956 Olympic appearance. He was considered among the favorites at Melbourne, but a poor horse draw hurt his chances.

As an administrator, Černý founded the Czechoslovak and Slovakian Pentathlon Unions. He also helped establish the club TJ Zizek Bratislava, for whom he later served as President and worked as a coach.
