Jarvis Scott was a long sprinter, who ran for Cal State Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Mercurettes. She competed at the 1971 Pan-American Games, placing eighth in the 400. Scott was AAU Outdoor 400 champion in 1968, AAU Indoor 440 yard champion in 1969 and 1971, and also won the AIAW title for 440 yards in 1975. She later became a college track coach at Texas Tech University. She also became a lecturer and instructor at numerous sports meetings, including some run by the NFL, and occasionally speaking alongside Jesse Owens. Scott was inducted into the Cal State LA Hall of Fame.
