경력

Brad Gilbert was a professional tennis player who won 20 pro singles tournaments during his career, adding three doubles titles. His best world ranking was #4, which he achieved in January 1990. Gilbert’s best finish at Grand Slam singles were quarter-final appearances at the US Open in 1987 and at Wimbledon in 1990. He made the finals of the 1989 WCT Championship, and went to the semi-finals of the 1987 Tour Finals, and in all, Gilbert had 20 runner-up finishes in singles events on the pro tennis tour. Gilbert also won a men’s singles bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics. His best year on tour was 1989 when he won five singles titles, and claimed wins over four future Hall of Famers – Pete Sampras, Michael Chang, Boris Becker, and Stefan Edberg.

After retiring from competition in 1995, Gilbert coached Andre Agassi from 1994-2002, helping him win six majors during that period. He later coached Andy Roddick in 2003-04, during which time Roddick made the 2004 Wimbledon final, and Gilbert then moved on to coach Andy Murray in 2006-07. He has also coached Sam Querrey and Kei Nishikori. Since his playing days ended, Gilbert is probably known for his work as a tennis analyst on television for tennis events, including with ESPN and the BBC.
