バイオグラフィー

Willy Kaiser was one of two German boxers who won gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He won the flyweight class against Italy’s Gavino Matta by decision. He was the first Westphalian to win a gold medal at Olympic Games. In the 1937 European Championships he finished fourth, again in the flyweight division. The same year he won the German Championships.

During World War II he was captured by the Russians and was not released until 1949. He then worked as a boxing coach in his hometown Gladbeck until 1953 when he was employed by the municipal office in Gladbeck. He later turned to pigeon racing and won several regional events.
