Women's football would not have been the same without Megan Rapinoe who blazed a trail during her 17-year career, winning an Olympic gold medal and two World Cups.

Her journey to football stardom started at the University of Portland, where she played Division I football and scored 30 goals in 60 appearances to earn her first call-up to the United State Women's National Team (USWNT).

Rapinoe made her professional debut in 2009 for the Chicago Red Stars having been picked second overall in the 2009 WPS Draft. After the Red Stars stopped operating, she had stints with Philadelphia Independence, MagicJack in Florida, Sydney FC, and the Seattle Sounders.

The American star eventually joined Olympic Lyonnais in 2013 and made her UEFA Women's Champions League debut. After scoring eight goals in 28 games for the French giants, she moved to Seattle Reign (renamed OL Reign in 2020) in the National Women's Soccer League where she would spend the remainder of her career. At the Reign, she scored 52 goals in 121 appearances.
