バイオグラフィー

Matthias Schießleder was eliminated early in the lightweight judo class at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, losing both of his pool bouts. His bout against Austrian Karl Reisinger was the first judo bout ever at Olympic Games. In 1960 Schießleder was European Champion, and earned 10 West German titles. He was awarded the ninth dan by the German dan College.

After his active career Schießleder became a sports administrator. Starting in 1966 he led the dan college at Essen, from 1983-91 he was president of the regional dan college group in North Rhine Westfalia, and from 1991-2007 he was president of the North Rhine Westfalian dan College. By profession, Schießleder was a policeman.
