Edwin Swatek competed in swimming and water polo at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics. He represented the Chicago Athletic Association. Swatek competed in the 100 backstroke in 1904, and was entered in the 100 freestyle, but did not start. He also finished second in the 100 yard handicap, a non-Olympic, or demonstration, event held during the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition. Swatek became a practicing dentist.
