バイオグラフィー

Dina Asher-Smith has established herself as one of Europe's finest athletes, but an Olympic gold medal remains elusive with sprinters from the Americas blocking her path.

Her journey began with a bang, as she won the 2013 European Junior 200m title and claimed gold in the 100m at the 2014 World Junior Championships. A year later, she became the first British woman to break 11 seconds for 100m. The 200m looked to be her stronger event, however, and she finished fifth in the half-lap event at Rio 2016 before helping the women's 4x100m relay team take bronze in a new British record.

At the 2018 European Championships in Berlin, Asher-Smith set new national records to win golds in the 100m and 200m before completing a famous treble by anchoring home the sprint relay team.

And a year later at the World Championships in Doha, the Londoner confirmed Great Britain had a genuine female global sprint star. First, she set a new British record of 10.83 to take silver in the women's 100m behind the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

When I was eight, I was asked what I wanted to be. I said: ‘an Olympian’.”
