Barbara Ann FERRELL

Barbara Ferrell, a student at Los Angeles State and later a member of the Los Angeles Mercurettes, won the 100 m and finished second in the 200 m at the Pan American Games in 1967 and the following year, after winning both sprints at the Final Trials, she finished second in the 100 m and fourth in the 200 m at the Olympics. At the München Games four years later, she again reached the 100 m final, placing seventh, but was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 200 m. Barbara Ferrell equalled the world record of 11.1 for 100 m in winning the 1967 AAU and won the 220 y in 1969. Indoors, she won the AAU 60 y in 1968 and 1969, and the 240 y in 1969.
