Andy Stanfield graduated from Seton Hall in 1952 and then represented the New York Pioneer AC. He took the sprint double at the 1949 AAU and went on to win the 200 m title in 1952 and the 220 y in 1953. He won the AAU indoor long jump in 1951; was also a fine hurdler. At the IC4A championships he won the 100 y for three straight years from 1949 and in 1951 he won the 220 y Indoors he was three times the IC4A 60 y champion and he won the long jump in 1951. Stanfield also set a world record in the 220 y with 20.6 in 1951 at the IC4A Championship – a mark he equalled the following year.
