Biografia

Bill Porter was enrolled at Western Michigan from July 1944 thru November 1945, when he transferred to Northwestern. At Northwestern, Porter made steady rather than spectacular progress and, after finishing second to Harrison Dillard in the 1947 NCAA high hurdles, he beat Dillard at the AAU and the Final Trials in 1948 and crowned a great season by taking the Olympic title with a new Games record of 13.9. Porter was also an accomplished low hurdler, having beaten Dillard in 22.7 in 1947 and, when Dillard won the 1947 NCAA championship with a new world record of 22.3, Porter, in second place, equalled the former record of 22.5.

Personal Best: 110H – 13.90 (1948).
