Sam Felton was AAU hammer throw champion from 1949-51 and also won the NCAA hammer in 1948. He attended St. Mark’s School in Southborough, Massachusetts and then competed for Harvard and Dartmouth, and after college, the NYAC, the US Navy, the Navy Olympics, and the Philly Collegiate T&F Club. At the AAU meet he placed in the top three in the hammer every year from 1947-55, with the exception of a fourth-place finish in 1954.
After graduating from Harvard, Felton obtained an MBA from Harvard Business School. He later worked in professional management and corporate development, working with industries such as SmithKline & French Labs, Berwind Corporation, and North American Car. He started and directed SRI International Midwest Management Consulting Practice. Felton was a member of The Planning Forum, The Camden Conference, The Harvard Club of Boston, and the Southwest Harbor Library. He was inducted into the NYAC Hall of Fame in April 2015.
