Biografia

Arguably one of the greatest tennis players in history, Roger Federer is also a two-time Olympic medallist.

Born on August 8, 1981, in Basel, Switzerland, Roger Federer’s association with tennis began at the tender age of three during weekend visits to the private tennis courts of the organisation his parents used to work for.

By the age of eight, Federer’s talent for the game was obvious and he was enrolled in an elite junior programme run by the Old Boys Tennis Club in Basel. It was here that Federer began working with veteran Czech coach Adolf Kacovsky and his journey into professional tennis began.

Federer’s rise through the junior ranks was rapid and the Swiss sensation soon announced himself on the global stage by becoming the junior Wimbledon champion in 1998. In years to come, the All England Club would become one of his favourite haunts.

Federer also made his ATP debut in 2018 and just a year later, on his 18th birthday, won his maiden senior professional title - a doubles crown at the Open Castilla y León Challenger in Segovia, Spain, with Sander Groen as his partner. It was one of the eight doubles titles in his career.
