Biografia

Judi Brown won a 400 hurdle silver medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. She was also Pan American Games gold medalist in the event in both 1983 and 1987. Brown won the US title in the 400 hurdles for four consecutive years, 1984-87, and also won the 1984 US Olympic Trials. Between 1984-87 she set five American records in the event. Internationally, Brown also placed second in the 400 hurdles at the 1985 World Cup. Competing for Michigan State University, Brown won 12 titles at the Big 10 Championships and was the 1983 NCAA Champion.

Brown graduated from Michigan State and later earned a masters’ degree in education from that school. She then earned a Ph.D. in public administration and public policy from Western Michigan University. Brown was a member of the Michigan Even Start Statewide Family Literacy Consortium. She was inducted into the Michigan State University Hall of Fame in 1986, but her biggest honor likely came in 1987 when she selected as Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year for her work in community involvement.

Personal Best: 400H – 54.23 (1987).
